As Executive Director of Brooksville Main Street, Ryan Malloy serves as the chief executive implementing the National Main Street Program’s 4-Point Approach overseeing the Organization, Promotions, Design and Economic Development Committees.  Prior to coming to Brooksville Main Street, Ryan was the owner and CEO of Heritage Homes Realty. As a Realtor®, he served buyers, sellers and investors of historic properties.  He has spent several years working in facilities and construction management of both the public and private sectors.  He also spent 10 years working in hospitality management with national chains such as Marriott International and Intercontinental Hotel Group.  Ryan also served honorably in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator.  He received his undergraduate degree in Sustainability Management from St. Petersburg College and his graduate degree in Historic Preservation from Savannah College of Art & Design. He actively serves on the board of the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation (Vice-President) – the statewide advocacy organization for preservation in Florida. 

Benchley, Elizabeth

Dr. Benchley has conducted archaeological investigations in the Midwest and in northwest Florida.  Her research interests include the Colonial development of northwest Florida, cultural ecology and landscapes, settlement-subsistence studies, hunter-gatherer economies, the evolution of complex society, and cultural resource management.  At the University of West Florida, she is Director of the Division of Anthropology and Archaeology, which includes the Department of Anthropology, the Archaeology Institute, the Florida Public Archaeology Network, and the Marine Services Center.  

Silvia, Diane

Diane Silvia is a south Florida native living now in the Florida Keys. She received a Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Anthropology at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Diane taught at the University of South Alabama before entering the Ph.D. program at Tulane University in New Orleans, graduating in 2000. Overall, she was involved in field archaeology for about 18 years before moving down to the Keys. She was employed by the City of Key West for 10 years as their Preservation Planner and then Building Inspector and Plans Examiner. In 2008, Diane became the Executive Director of the Historic Florida Keys Foundation.  In this role, she manages three State owned properties, serves as Monroe County’s Preservationist, executes an annual historic preservation awards program and helps with preservation at the Historic Key West Cemetery.

Mr. David Baber has over 40 years of experience in activities associated with
the protection and preservation of historic resources in Virginia, Connecticut
and Florida. He has earned degrees in architectural engineering and historic
preservation from Roger Williams University. His involvement in the historic
preservation field has included development and management of local historic
preservation programs, conducting or supervising the preparation of historic
sites surveys, preparing historic designation applications for the National
Register of Historic Places and local historic designation programs and providing
oversight and supervision of projects to restore or rehabilitate historic
buildings. Mr. Baber meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional
Qualifications Standards for Architectural History in accordance with federal
regulations 36 CFR Part 61.

Jeff Moates is the Director of the West Central Regional Center of the Florida Public Archaeology Network. He earned a M.A. in History/Historical Archaeology and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of West Florida. Jeff’s work experiences prior to FPAN include employment as a field tech and crew chief with Archaeological Consultants, Inc (Sarasota, FL), an underwater archaeologist for the FL Bureau of Archaeological Research, and museum curator at the Florida Maritime Museum at Cortez.
