Nice diversity of performers, age groups and involvement in multiple art disciplines. The Master Class and use of social media for marketing enhance outreach in the community.

There seems to be a significant increase in the budget summary for marketing, total operating and cash from FY17 to FY18, with projections for in-kind, private and corporate support decreasing considerably.  Please explain. Q the $2500 professional proofreader expense (#7). How many hours is this for, at what rate?

No 504 self eval for accessibility was checked.

If an organizational acronym will be used, please reference it (ie CIA).

Will the evaluation plan be in anecdotal form or a questionnaire?

I would recommend doing the Section 504 Self Evaluation.

This would enable you to score a bit higher.

This is a well thought out and presented program.

Congrats!

All objectives need to be measurable (how many, how much, what % change, etc.).

Some spelling errors, concerned about the large emphasis placed on receipt the large Knight Foundation grant. Suggest continuation of solicitation of individual donors, gov't sources and not condition those plans on receipt of the Knight Foundation grant.

Use the optional additional operating budget information narrative space to directly explain significant differences in income/expenses from year to year.

Accessibility:
While much can be assumed by noting venues managed by MDT, suggest including more detailed description of efforts to ensure accessibility. Did not address masterclass accessibility in venues other than MDT.  Did not address how graphic materials will reflect accessibility. Has not completed the Section 504 Self Evaluation Workbook.

Excellence:

  • Love to see that the events are free and open to the public and presented in an area with a large amount of foot traffic and featuring a variety of music genres.
  • Note: Description lists 4 years of Wake up Miami while the beginning questionnaire only lists 1-2 years of programming.
  • Be cautious when using a large slate of benefits of music to support the application such as "reduce symptoms" and "altering behaviors." This does not appear to be a part of the formal application.
  • Although goals are not explicitly stated, the are admirable.  The objectives however are not inherently measurable.  E.g., how does the project promote public transportation?  Will there be a way to assess a broad statement such as this?
  • How is the masterclass part of this program?  If it is not happening at the transportation station, it seems as though it could be tangential to the proposal. What type of masterclass will this be and what will it entail?  No details are present about the topic, reasoning, or content.
  • Timeline details are appreciated.  More details about Paquito D'Rivera would be helpful for those of us who do not know who this "legendary" artist is nor his background.

Impact:

  • Thank you for including the commuter numbers for the selected station.  Who are the other musician sought for this proposal?
  • "Once the community is exposed, their members' minds....": This statement is a very broad generalization and impossible to measure.  For impact, we really need to see more concrete evidence and fewer assumptions.
  • The station selection and community placement is an excellent idea.
  • The level of detail regarding subscribers, likes, and followers is hugely important to asses reach of marketing.  Thank you for including these. How might the organization expand upon these numbers?
  • Would like to see any information about local economic impact.  Are any local musicians employed and to what extent?  How about attendees for the masterclass, will they be staying in local hotels and eating in local restaurants?

Management:

  • How will participants and demographics be assessed?  It is easy to glean ridership numbers, but how about demographics?
  • The website traffic and targeting surveys are a good idea.  It would be nice to see both the email survey and results from previous years, if any, along with details how data may be used to influence future programming.
  • Budget:
    • How are there no personnel expenses in a budget of this size?
    • The marketing seems to be a very expensive portion of the budget and may be too much so.
    • How is the rapid increase in operating budget accounted?
