Excellent outreach programs

I commend you for being able to present your 5th grade concert. Most school district don't allow this anymore.

Excellence:

  • Do be cautious with the presentation of goals and objectives.  Goals should be considered broad aims under which specific and measurable objectives are used to achieve each goal.  That being said, the objectives are indeed measurable and quite laudable.  It would be nice to see a bit more detail about these objectives however.
  • The MiE program looks wonderful and should have more detail.

Impact:

  • The quality of life impact in the region is very well-done, particularly service to families in treatment facilities and lifelong learners.  We do need to see more salient details however regarding local economic impact besides the total of the operating budget.  It would be good to see such items as hotel stays or restaurant partnerships or the amount of local dollars spent on musicians and staff.
  • Excellently structured M/P plan.  Very nice to see 94% capacity concerts!  How might you be able to maximize this area while increasing the diversity of your audience?
  • It would also be nice to see the size of your mailing list, breadth of your direct mail (hard copy and digital) campaign, as well as social media likes/followers.

Management:

  • Wonderful cash reserves and kudos on your endowment.
  • Evaluation plan: Here, provide as much detail as possible regarding your surveys and patron engagement.  Uploading your surveys and showing how data reflects changes in the organization is KEY to showing how responsive the organization can be to the needs of the public.
  • Budget: It is often more desirable to see public funds go towards budget lines directly benefiting the public or proposal, e.g. marketing, musicians and not administrative personnel.
