An exemplary program design. Cohesive grant structure throughout the application. Narrative is focused and direct. Goals and objectives are connected to the mission and the results, the emphasis on the maritime boat-building craft and culture is a very unique and inspiring component with artisan and traditional apprenticeship connections, great synopsis, great partner roles, excellent fiscal report with detail, great use of higher ed internships, excellent timeline CONCERNS: The project could be more intentionally diverse, could use more outreach to varied artists to explore different visions of what the artisan process of ship building might mean to different cultures, traditions; could use more specificity on the evaluations, what educational standards will be met by the project? this would make the project more useful for educators.

Nice proposal - narrative made me want to find out more and visit the LAMP website. If support from the State is in place, it would be a good thing to list this support someplace on the site or in distributed materials. Smithsonian Affiliate is listed on the site. Would have been nice to see a more diverse group of support letters, such as one from one of the "tens of thousands of school-aged children" that are enriched by the LAMP program at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. As well, perhaps LAMP impacts other fields such as art, science, math and creativity and problem solving. If so, mentioning these things would be helpful. | |

The cultural importance of boat building is a bit tough to follow and the traditional artistic value. It's definitely a humanities rich application and an organization making a big impact in its community. |
